Snowfall can happen from May to late September, on average 2-3 times a year a dusting of snow will blanket the Ferry. If you are very lucky you might wake up and mother nature has done her thing.
Back to IndexWhen is the ski season?
The Queenstown & Wanaka ski season runs from June to October. Opening and closing dates vary depending on snow conditions. Check with the links on our Winter Stays page for more information on each mountain.
Back to IndexHow far are you from the mountains?
Coronet Peak is the closest mountain to The Ferry, in fact you can see it by looking up from the front door. It is a scenic 20 minute drive on a fully sealed road to reach the base building.
Make sure you allow plenty of time to get up the mountain in winter and always carry chains and drive to the conditions. You can check road and weather conditions on the snow report. Coronet Peak Weather – Coronet Peak | Ski New Zealand

We think anytime is great to pay us a visit. Summer, autumn, spring or winter, it is hard to choose which season is the best. The four seasons enjoyed in Queenstown are distinctly beautiful and each offers a unique reason to visit. Experience long warm days in summer, take a refreshing dip in the nearby Shotover River. Crisp bluebird days for skiing in winter, beautiful golden landscapes in autumn and spring really brings our wonderful garden with heritage roses back to life.
