Why Us - The Ferry Bed and Breakfast

OUR STORY

We thank you in advance for booking or at least considering our little place. We are just a small family run business, so by staying with us you are 100% supporting local.

Short background about us, Dan is a kiwi born and raised in Christchurch, while Mitzi was born in Devon, England. However, Mitzi has now spent longer living in New Zealand then her home country, but hasn’t lost the art for making cream tea.

We have two teenage children, Finn & Lennon. Both boys attend the local high school and each morning walk across the old bridge to catch the school bus.

We also have a bunch on pets on the the property that you may see. A pug dog called Mavis, a black cat called Betty and some funny looking Silkie chickens that supplement our egg supply.

We have lived and worked in Queenstown for over 20 years manly in accommodation and hospitality roles. But when an opportunity arose to buy our own place we took the chance. In 2015 we purchased The Ferry and become the very proud 27th owners of this beautiful historic building.

When we are not hosting visitors from around the world and all over New Zealand we like to go and explore it ourselves.

We look forward to hosting you soon, and you too can become part of the history!

The ambience, the position, the style & comfort, the hosts, the breakfasts and general hospitality. This stay made our trip. We wanted to see Queenstown but without the tourist hype and The Ferry was perfect for us. So restful, which was what we were looking for, and the most beautiful location with walking tracks and great photography options.

I rearly give five stars but its gorgeously updated, the hospitality is warm and inviting while giving privacy and the location is brilliant. Arrived to freshly baked muffins, and bread baking away, the fire lit and the house spotless! Heavenly.
